Repeat shoplifter charged yet again
Following an arrest for shoplifting from a Fourth Street Family Dollar, April May Slack, 38, 1146 W. Fourth Street, has been charged again, this time for allegedly stealing more than $70-worth of clothing and bags from Goodwill, 621 Hepburn St., city police said in an affidavit.
While at the store on Oct. 14, Slack was observed speaking with several people as she moved through the store, picking up clothing and bags, before allegedly making her way towards the exit.
A manager at the store initially stopped Slack and informed her that she needed to pay for her items, at which point, she allegedly turned and ran out of the store, taking $70.89-worth of merchandise with her.
Slack was arraigned on a charge of retail theft by District Judge Gary Whiteman, and released on $10,000 bail.
Man charged following domestic disturbance
James R. Macon, 39, has been charged with defiant trespass and disorderly conduct after causing disturbances in the 1600 block of Andrews place, resulting in three separate police visits within the span of less than two hours on Oct. 15, 2025, city police said in court filings.
Initially called to the residence shortly before 7 p.m., police allegedly found Macon on the front porch of the house with the smell of alcohol on his breath.
“An alleged victim told police that Macon had shown up unannounced three days prior, adding that she was scared of Macon and wanted him to leave the family alone for the night, an affidavit said.
While speaking with the alleged victim, Macon left the property, however police were again called to the residence approximately one hour later, where they told him to gather his belongings and informed him that he was not welcome on the premises.
Removed from the residence by officers once he began screaming at the alleged victim, Macon turned his attention to police, who told him to keep his voice down, and refused to take his belongings, allegedly stating that he had no place to go, according to court documents.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m., Macon allegedly returned to the residence and began banging on the front door and yelling at the alleged victim. The yelling could be heard from a block away by responding officers, who also witnessed Macon on the front porch of the residence, police said in an affidavit.
Arraigned by District Judge Gary Whiteman, Macon was released on $5,000 bail.
New Jersey man charged with identity theft
A New Jersey man faces a charge of identity theft after he allegedly carried out a series of fraudulent activities under the guise of a female acquaintance, state police said in an affidavit.
On Aug. 20, an alleged victim reported to police that since filing a protection from abuse order against Andrew Michael Pungitore, 30, of Oakland. N.J., a number of actions were undertaken using her identity.
The alleged incidents included having a PennDOT and USPS change of address files, two credit card applications opened, an attempt to open a second PPL account and shut off request files with her Internet provider.
The alleged victim also reported finding pornographic material on her Google Drive, which said had been “hacked,” according to court documents.
Additionally, she reported that prior to moving her important documents to her mother’s house, her social security card had gone missing. Pungitore was aware of the location of the documents, as well as the fact that she was attempting to obtain a PFA against him, the alleged victim added, according to court documents.
Pungitore allegedly also had knowledge of the alleged victim’s PPL password, despite her being responsible for paying it.
She further stated that she had never experienced any personal fraudulent activity prior to Pungitore being served with the PFA.
Pungitore was arraigned by District Judge Kirsten Gardner and released on $5,000 bail.
Muncy woman charged with assault of correctional officer
Harley Olicia Grace Cutshall Gates, 22, currently incarcerated at SCI-Muncy, has been charged with simple assault after she allegedly kicked a correctional officer, causing her to bump into a cell door behind her, state police said in an affidavit.
The officer was later diagnosed with liver damage as a result of the attack, which was captured on surveillance video, according to court documents.
Cutshall Gates was arraigned by District Judge Kirsten Gardner and jailed on $23,000 bail.
Montgomery man charged with possessing false inspection stickers
A Montgomery man faces charges after a previous traffic stop resulted in the discovery of fraudulent state inspection stickers affixed to the vehicle of an acquaintance, as well as his own, state police said in an affidavit.
During questioning, Travis Michael Cardy, 34, of 2011 Pinchtown Road, Montgomery, allegedly stated that in exchange for using his friend’s vehicle, he agreed to pay for its inspection at a Hughesville/Muncy area garage, but could not remember the name of the shop.
He further related that his vehicles are inspected at a garage in the Trout Run area, but again, allegedly could not recall the name or location of the shop, or provide any supporting evidence.
During an inspection of Cardy’s vehicles, police determined that the inspection and emissions stickers on both vehicles were fraudulent, according to court documents.
Cardy was arraigned on charges of displaying forged or counterfeit documentation and affixing forged or counterfeit documentation by District Judge Kirsten Gardner and released on $5,000 bail.
Bloomsburg man charged with failure to register
A Bloomsburg resident has been charged failing to update his address within the state Sexual Offender Registry Tool, according to a state police affidavit.
Bautista Lee Bonett, 61, currently jailed at the Columbia County Prison, is a required to register his address with the state, due to a 1991 rape conviction, and has verified his address multiple times since 2012, making him aware of what was required of him, court documents said.
During an investigation, initiated by a tip, it was learned that Bonett’s last verified address was in Shickshinny, however his present residence was allegedly in the 6000 block of Route 15 in Clinton Township.
An interview with Bonett’s girlfriend and a receptionist at the residence confirmed that Bonett had been living at the residence since Feb. 19, 2025. Payment records showed that Bonett was present at the residence during that time, court documents said.
Bonett was arraigned on a charge of failure to register with state police by District Judge Kirsten Gardner, and jailed on 35,000 bail.
