Variety of charges lodged in Lycoming County district courts

Firearms seized from accused drug dealer’s city home

When probation officers paid a surprise visit to Deyvaun Rashid Williams at his city home at 444 Germania St. on Oct. 3, they saw in plain view “a large amount of marijuana and multiple firearms,” according to an affidavit filed by a detective assigned to the county’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit. Law enforcement immediately obtained a search warrant that was quickly executed at the home. Detectives seized five handguns and two long guns, including an AK-47, the court document stated. “Williams possessed seven firearms in order to protect his illegal drug enterprise,” the detective wrote in the affidavit. In addition to all the firearms and an estimated 10 ounces of marijuana, detectives seized an estimated $9,000 in drug money from the home, investigators said. Following his arraignment days later before District Judge Aaron Biichle on seven counts of possession of instruments of crime and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, Williams, 22, was initially jailed, but has since been released on $50,000 bail. He also has waived his preliminary hearing.

City man jailed second time for having stolen handgun

Kevin J. Brown, 55, of 1209 Isabella St, has been jailed on felony firearm-related charges for carrying a stolen handgun in his backpack when he was taken into custody on a warrant near West Fourth Street and Fifth Avenue on the morning of Sept. 9, according to city police. No information was available Tuesday concerning the warrant. Brown stated he “found the firearm on the ground,” but when police contacted its owner, he told them no one else should have the gun, giving the impression that the owner may not have even been aware that it was missing. Arraigned before District Judge Aaron Biichle on felony charges of theft and receiving stolen property plus one misdemeanor charge of carrying a firearm without a license, Brown, who recently waived his preliminary hearing, remains jailed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail. He was arrested earlier this year and charged with carrying a stolen gun when he was stopped by city police for DUI near Memorial and Grier Street on Jan 4, according to court records.

Convicted felon faces new firearm charge

Thomas Price, 62, of 5741 Route 87, has been charged with convicted felon not to possess a firearm after state troopers seized two rifles and a 12-gauge shotgun from his Plunketts Creek Township home on Oct. 14 while executing a search warrant, according to court documents filed by state police at Whiteman’s office. Arraigned last week on the felony charge, Price, who admitted to purchasing the guns at an estate sale in Hughesville, was released on $10,000 bail.

Two men arrested for allegedly stealing scrap aluminum

Bruce Drum, 42, of 713 Diamond St., and Jamie Lee West, 50, of 809 Diamond St., both face felony charges of theft, receiving stolen property and theft of secondary metal after stealing an estimated $5,000 worth of scrap aluminum from a recycling dumpster belonging to Overhead Door on Reach Road between October 4 and Friday, it was alleged by city police. The two were arrested Friday when they were caught attempting to off-load more stolen scrap at a Montgomery area salvage business, police alleged. Following their arraignment before District Judge Denise Dieter, West was jailed in lieu of $20,000 bail while Drum was released on $15,000 bail.

New charges lodged against county prison inmate

More charges have been lodged against Lycoming County Prison inmate Joshua David Vroman, 32, of 7948 Route 14, Trout Run, according to court records filed by state police at Whiteman’s office. He has now been charged with felony criminal mischief as well as simple assault and harassment for smashing two car windows with his fist at 179 Old Cement Road in Fairfield Township on June 28, police said. The woman who owns the vehicle was standing near the vehicle and was injured by flying glass, according to testimony presented last week at his preliminary hearing. He was held for court on all charges and remains incarcerated in lieu of $25,000 bail. He is also jailed on numerous offenses stemming from other cases.

Motel disturbances results in charged filed against city man

Called to investigate a disturbance at a motel at 2019 E. Third St about 9:40 p.m. on Sept. 6, state troopers wanted to question Michael Willi Wright Jr., but he was locked in a room by himself and refused to open the door, according to an affidavit. After seeing Wright “consume several pills” through a window, troopers managed to get a key that allowed them to partially open the door and wedge a baton in the opening, police said. “Wright used the door’s interior latch to prevent the door from being opened fully. He was yelling and causing a disturbance,” a trooper wrote in the court document. Wright, 32, of 685 Fourth Ave., was seen putting a large knife to his throat, police said, adding that he began to move furniture to barricade the door. With the knife, he “began slashing the baton that was wedged in the door,” it was stated in the affidavit. Troopers eventually entered the room and detained Wright, who was taken by ambulance to UPMC Williamsport for evaluation. Wright was arraigned Monday before District Judge Gary Whiteman on charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, and jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Charges field against woman who allegedly ran from police

After a city police officer detained her and ordered her to remain on the curb in the 600 block of Washington Boulevard on Oct. 7, fugitive Tierra Nicole Lyons, who had given the officer a false identification, fled on foot, running through multiple yards and jumping over several fences, it was alleged in an affidavit. The officer was returning to his cruiser to verify what information Lyons had given him when the 27-year-old woman, wanted on a bench warrant out of the Lycoming County Sheriff’s Office, took off running, the court document stated. Numerous additional officers responded to the neighborhood to search for the woman. Lyons, of 1516 W. Fourth St., was located hiding in some bushes and had to be forcibly removed from the shrubbery, police said. Automatically placed in the county prison on the bench warrant, Lyons has since been arraigned before Bichle on charges of evading arrest and resisting arrest, and recommitted in lieu of $10,000 bail.
