Kevin J. Brown, 55, of 1209 Isabella St, Williamsport, has been jailed on felony firearm-related charges for carrying a stolen handgun in his backpack when he was taken into custody on a warrant near West Fourth Street and Fifth Avenue on the morning of Sept. 9, according to city police. No information was available Tuesday concerning the warrant. Brown stated he “found the firearm on the ground,” but when police contacted its owner, he told them no one else should have the gun, giving the impression that the owner may not have even been aware that it was missing. Arraigned before District Judge Aaron Biichle on felony charges of theft and receiving stolen property plus one misdemeanor charge of carrying a firearm without a license, Brown, who recently waived his preliminary hearing, remains jailed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail. He was arrested earlier this year and charged with carrying a stolen gun when he was stopped by city police for DUI near Memorial and Grier Street on Jan 4, according to court records.

Starting at $2.99/week.
