Children help their mother as she is allegedly assaulted by former boyfriend
When Anthony Cunningham kicked in his ex-girlfriend’s bedroom door and began punching in the head as well as putting his hands around her throat in the 600 block of Second Street, Williamsport, about 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 9, the couple’s two children “came rushing into the room and eventually were able to separate Cunningham from their mother, city police wrote in an affidavit. The 32-year-old Philadelphia man had already fled the apartment when officers arrived on the scene. They noticed “slight swelling” to the victim’s face, and that the woman’s bedroom door had been “significantly damaged,” the affidavit stated. Cunningham, who has a history of past arrests for kidnapping and armed robbery, was recently arraigned before Frey on charges of simple assault and felony trespassing and jailed in lieu of $75,000 bail. He has since waived his preliminary hearing on this matter.
