Linden man injured in crash with garbage truck

The driver of this Chrysler 300, Earl McKibben, 87, of Linden, was recovering from upper-body injuries he suffered when he crashed into the back of a stopped garbage truck as a trash hauler was dumping waste into the truck at Bottle Run Road and Woodbryn Drive in Old Lycoming Township about 9:30 a.m. Friday, according Lycoming Regional police.

Fortunately, the trash hauler saw him coming and jumped out of the way moments before the car plowed into the truck, police said. McKibben was pinned in the wreckage for about 15 minutes. Once he was extricated, the driver was loaded into an ambulance and taken to UPMC Williamsport for medical treatment. . Old Lycoming Township and Williamsport firefighters responded to the call.
