Muncy SCI inmate held for court on state police assault charge

Following testimony presented before District Judge Kirsten Gardner, Harley Cutshall Gate, an inmate at the state Correctional Institution at Muncy, was held for count on a state police felony aggravated assault charge that stemmed from her allegedly kicking a corrections officer in the abdomen on Feb. 26, according to an affidavit.The assault was so severe that it damaged the officer’s liver. Serving a one to three-year prison sentence, Gate, 22, originally incarcerated from Mifflin County, has a history of committing assaults. One such case involved other officers at the state prison whom she allegedly kicked while she was being moved from her sell to the jail’s psychiatric unit in mid-October 2023 after reportedly making statements indicating she planned to harm herself, according to court records. She remains jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail in the latest case.
