Williamsport man charged with abusing 911 system

Even after he was told on Oct. 26 by Williamsport police to stop calling 911 unless he had an actual emergency, Luke Holleran called 911 at least three more times for non-emergencies shortly after officers left his home at 2322 W. Fourth St., it was alleged in an affidavit. Police initially responded to the residence because Holleran was “yelling obnoxiously and making demands” of the dispatchers, police alleged. “Holleran has called the emergency line “several times in October for non-emergency issues,” police said in the court document. Arraigned before District Judge Kirsten Gardner on one misdemeanor count of abusing the 911 system, Holleran, 31, has since been held for court on the charge following his preliminary hearing on Tuesday. Initially jailed, he has since been released on $5,000 bail.

The communication with 911 charge was withdrawn and Holleran was found guilty two counts of disorderly conduct and one count of harassment, and was sentenced to nine months consecutive probation.

Starting at $2.99/week.
