Early-morning Hughesville shooting ruled accidental
HUGHESVILLE — A 19-year-old Montoursville man was recovering from a gunshot wound that state police have ruled as “an accidental shooting” and was self-inflicted, according to Trooper Lauren Lesher, the public information officer at the Montoursville barracks.
While attempting to remove a firearm from his waistband inside a home in the 100 block of East Water Street about 1:30 a.m. Monday, the gun went off, resulting in the bullet striking his left leg, Lesher said.
The teen was treated at UPMC Williamsport, she said, adding that troopers seized the gun as the investigation is ongoing.
