Former treasurer allegedly stole large sum of money from softball travel team
Kari Rebecca Montoya, a former treasurer of the Silver Bullets Softball Team, a local fast-pitch girls traveling team, has been arrested on two felony counts of theft for stealing $12,800 from
the organization, state police alleged in an affidavit. Investigators alleged Montoya, 39, of 1490 Fox Hollow Road, stole the money between late November 2023 and last June, according to an affidavit.
“She has admitted to using team funds for unauthorized personal use. She also admitted to failing to keep proper track of the team’s funds and her personal funds,” a trooper wrote in the court
document. Arraigned last week before District Judge William Solomon on one count each of theft by failure to make required disposition and theft by unlawful taking, the Old Lycoming Township
woman was released on $15,000 bail.
