Lycoming County district judges kept busy with variety of cases

Clinton County man allegedly pointed handgun at couple

Travis Durandetto, 36, of 159 Municipal Drive, Avis, faces charges of terroristic threats and simple assault for going to a couple’s Second Avenue home and pointing a handgun at the two during the early-morning hours on Dec. 21, city police allege in an affidavit. After leaving the scene, in a voicemail that was left for the victims, he was overheard talking with his girlfriend in which he stated “Now you know the lengths I will go. You’re lucky I didn’t pull that (expletive) trigger, because I’d love to put a bullet in one of their heads,” it was stated in the court document. Following his arraignment before District Judge Kirsten Gardner, Durandetto was released on $50,000 bail.

City man arrested after allegedly assaulting girlfriend

Arriving at David Burkhart’s home at 673 Second Ave. to investigate a domestic disturbance on Friday, city police saw blood coming from his girlfriend’s mouth and nose, according to an affidavit. The woman was also limping, police said. In the court document, it was alleged that the 37-year-old Burkhart pushed his “girlfriend to the floor, stomped (on) her head and leg and struck her in the face with his hand several times,” police said in the court document. Following his arraignment before Gardner, Burkhart was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.

New assault-related charges lodged against state prison inmate

Upon being discharged from UPMC Williamsport following treatment for an undisclosed medical issue on the evening of April 22, Harley Cutshall-Gates, an inmate at the state Corrections Institution at Muncy, became unruly and combative as two corrections officers with her at the hospital attempted to put her back in restraints, it was alleged in a state police affidavit. She spit on the two officers, kicking one in the abdomen and face, it was alleged in the court document. She was eventually restrained and returned to the state prison on Route 405. She was recently arraigned before Gardner on felony charges of aggravated assault and aggravated harassment by prisoner. Court records indicated Cutchall-Gates, 22, whose last known address was Mifflin County, has a history of allegedly committing assaults. In February, she kicked a corrections officer so hard in the abdomen that it resulted in damaging the officer’s liver, state police alleged in a criminal complaint. Bail in this latest case concerning the alleged assault at the hospital remains at $50,000.

Two arrested following incident at local motel

Patrick McGaughrin, 48, of 619 First Ave., and Jennifer Cochran, also 48, of 634 Campbell St., apartment 5, both face criminal charges for staying together illegally for three nights in a guest room at the Best Western Motel, 1840 E. Third St, in Loyalsock Township, state police alleged in an affidavit. After “checking out” of the motel on Dec. 23, McGaughrin and Cochran remained in the room another three nights apparently without the motel management’s knowledge, police said. When a new guest checked in at the motel on Friday, they were assigned the very same room McGaughrin had used, police said. When the guest went to the room, they found McGaughrin and Cochran there, police said, adding that McGaughrin told the guest “not to tell anyone” that they were there. The motel keycards McGaughrin and Cochran still had in their possession no longer worked for the guest room, police said.

The two were taken into custody and charged with burglary, theft, felony trespassing, theft by deception and theft of services. The two remain incarcerated in lieu of $35,000 bail each.
