Two teenagers awaiting trial for their alleged involvement in stealing two rifles in a June 6 burglary at a Williamsport business have now been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges related to the break-in at the National Range and Armory on Washington Boulevard.

Tahir Dixon, 18, of 604 Thomas Ave., and Shamier Gadson, 19, of Philadelphia, were indicted on federal charges of stealing firearms from a licensed dealer and possession of stolen firearms.

The indictment was announced Wednesday by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

Dixon and Gadson, arrested earlier this year on city police charges of burglary and related offenses in connection with the crime, both remain incarcerated in the Lycoming County Prison.

It is alleged in the indictment and other court documents that Dixon and Gadson, along with “their co-conspirators (four male juveniles), stole two firearms from the dealer” after breaking into the business at 531 Washington Blvd. First a brick was used in an attempt to break a window, but when that failed, another teen in the group picked up half a cinderblock to smash the window.

It was further alleged that the six teens also “used a stolen Kia SUV to transport the stolen firearms,” according to U.S. Attorney Brian D. Miller.

Besides city police, this “case was investigated by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration (with the purpose to) achieve the total elimination of cartels” and other criminal organizations, Miller said.
