Three displaced following Washington Township fire
An adult male and two teenagers have been displaced following a Friday night blaze in the 6200 block of Sulphur Springs Road in Washington Township.
The initial report of a basement fire came in just before 5:30 p.m.
“Damage was pretty extensive in the basement. There was some very minimal spread, but most of the damage on the two upper floors was from smoke,” Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department Chief Brett Ulrich told the Sun-Gazette.
A resident of the home attempted to put the fire out, but was unsuccessful, at which point those in the home vacated, according to scanner reports, and a male did receive minor burns, possibly to his face, Ulrich confirmed.
The occupants are expected to be displaced for some time and are being assisted by the American Red Cross, the chief said.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, with a state fire marshal expected at the scene on Monday, Ulrich said.
In addition to Washington Township, fire crews from Clinton Township, Montgomery, Warrior Run and South Williamsport Fire Police responded to the call.
