Elimsport firefighters respond to fuel leak
ELIMSPORT – A clean-up operation was conducted after an estimated 125 gallons of heating oil leaked from an outdoor tank on private property in the 14000 block of Route 44 on Tuesday afternoon, according to Elimsport Fire Chief Brett Ulrich.
The leak occurred when the valve at the bottom of the 275-gallon tank cracked, he said.
The environmental hazard was minimal as firefighters worked quickly to stop any of the fuel from entering a nearby drainage ditch, Ulrich explained.
