Linden man charged in killing of whitetail deer in Newberry

A second man, Nyreece Kyrell Speck, who has a history of aggravated assault arrests, has been charged for his alleged participation in the killing of a whitetail deer in the 500 block of Arch Street in the city during the early-morning hours of last March 8, according to the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

Speck, 26, of 218 Smith Court Circle, Linden, was one of two passengers in a vehicle driven by Mark Edward Kimble Jr., who “maliciously ran over a whitetail deer, breaking its legs and neck, eventually killing it,” it was stated in a court document.

Speck and the second passenger grabbed the legs of the dead dear and began to carry it to Kimble’s vehicle when they were stopped by a city police officer who saw all of it while on routine patrol.

The two men dropped the dear, but then Speck “aggressively kicked the deceased deer. He then proceeded to repeatedly step on its head and shoulder while mumbling regarding wanting some Jerry from the dead animal,” it was stated in an affidavit.

Charged with unlawful killing and taking of big game and unlawful use of lights while hunting, both misdemeanors, Speck waived his preliminary hearing last week before Frey and remains free on 10,000 bail.

Kimble, 19, of 320 School House Road, was charged last year for his alleged involvement.

Starting at $2.99/week.
