Muncy man allegedly threatened family member
During an argument with a family member inside a cabin on Pleasant Stream Way in McIntyre Township on Feb. 7, Joshua Roberyt Kinley, 36, said he had “enough ammo in his AR rifle to take out everyone in the cabin,” according to a state police criminal complaint.
Besides the family member, two juveniles also were in the cabin and heard the threat allegedly made by Kinley, who lives at 119 Fairground St., Muncy, police said.
Arraigned two days later before District Judge William Solomon on charges of terroristic threats, possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment, Kinley remains free on $50,000 bail.
Homeless woman lands in jail on theft-related charges
Heather Nicol Ellis, who is homeless, has been jailed on felony and misdemeanor charges after stealing a large sum of money from another woman who had allowed her to spend the night at her home on South Main Street in Jersey Shore, Lycoming Regional police allege in an affidavit.
Officers were dispatched to the victim’s residence on Jan. 14 after she arrived home from work to find the 56-year-old Ellis on the front porch opening up mail that had been delivered to the home, police said.
Ellis is alleged to have removed several thousands of dollars from the house, police said, adding that the money was found in a bag Ellis had put in her purse.
She opened numerous pieces of mail that were not addressed to her, police alleged. Ellis was taken into custody and arraigned before District Judge Kirsten Gardner on felony charges of theft and receiving stolen property as well as one misdemeanor count of theft of mail.
She recently was held for court on all three offenses and remains jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Virginia woman arrested for allegedly deceiving local bank
Whitney Elizabeth Childs, 31, of Staunton, Virginia, has been locked up on charges of allegedly defrauding the South Williamsport branch office of the Journey Bank in October, borough police alleged.
Through mobile deposit, Child opened a new account by depositing a fake $1,466 check at a Bloomsburg area Journey Bank branch office on Oct. 22 it was stated in a borough police document. Soon after the fake check was deposited, Childs, on the same day, withdrew $1,800 from the account at the South Williamsport bank branch office, police said, adding that there actually were no funds in the account at all.
In an interview with investigators, Childs admitted that the only reason she opened an account at the bank was so that she could deposit the fake check and get cash from the bank, police said. She is alleged to have tried to deposit a second such check, but the bank rejected it, it was stated in a court document.
Recently arraigned before District Judge Gary Whiteman on misdemeanor charges of theft by deception, receiving stolen property and bad checks, Childs remains jailed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Montgomery woman face misdemeanor firearm charge
Samantha June Thomas, 33, of 236 Old Road, Montgomery, has been charged with carrying a concealed firearm without a valid permit following an incident near Lake and East roads in Gamble Township on Dec. 15, according to state police. She has since waived her preliminary hearing before Whiteman and is free on $5,000 bail.
