Assault, resisting arrest among charges lodged in Lycoming County district courts

Assault charges land Woodward Township woman in county prison

Tiffany Marie Miller, 34, of 57 Woodward St. in Woodward Township, has been locked up on charges of assaulting another woman at Miller’s front door about 4:45 p.m. on March 20, state police alleged in an affidavit. During an argument, Miller grabbed the woman’s neck with her right arm, squeezed and then “pushed her off an elevated porch,” the court document stated. The victim, who was at the house to pick up her dogs, told police that she “could not breathe for an extended period of time and had a pounding sensation in her head, (making her feel) as if she was going to pass out,” a trooper wrote in the affidavit. As he spoke with the woman, the trooper noticed “significant fresh bruising around the front of her neck.”

It took two troopers to take Miller into custody because she put up resistance, said police, adding the troopers had to take her to the ground. Following her arraignment a short time later before District Judge William Solomon on charges of strangulation, simple assault, resisting arrest and harassment, Miller was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Testimony sufficient to hold woman on trespassing-related charges

Following testimony presented before Solomon, Stephanie Lynn Sipes, 26, of 732 Funston Ave., will face further court action on charges of felony trespassing and misdemeanor criminal mischief that stem from an incident in which she attempted to force her way into a family’s Hepburn Township home at 220 Sawmill Road on Feb on Feb. 3, Lycoming Regional police alleged in a court document. In addition to trying to forcibly open a door, Sipes allegedly broke a window at the victim’s property, police said. Sipes, who was held for court on both charges, remains free on $25,000 bail.

Theft charge lodged against city woman

Natasha Leigh Milton, 36, of 1452 Scott St., has been charged with theft after she allegedly removed $300 from an envelope that was inside the office manager’s desk at the Candlewood Suits, 1836 E. Third St., in Loyalsock Township on Jan. 8, according to state police. Following a preliminary hearing before District Judge Gary Whiteman, Milton was held for court on the charge and released on $5,000 bail.

City man charged with resisting arrest and related offenses

Even though a city patrolman ordered him several times to stop and told him he was under arrest, Kurtus James Fox initially kept walking away, but then he suddenly turned around and started “aggressively walking in the officer’s direction” while at the same time making an obscene gesture with his hands, it was stated in affidavit. Several officers were needed to restrain the 38-year-old man, it was stated in an affidavit. Officers also had to deploy tasers to get him under control, police said. This all occurred about 10:50 p.m. on March 10 in the 800 block of West Fourth Street, where Fox, of 800 Poplar St., had violated a protection from abuse order, police said. Once in custody, Fox was arraigned before Solomon on misdemeanor charges of evading arrest, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct as well as violating the protection from abuse order. He has since waived his preliminary hearing and remains jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail.

West Virginia woman charged with prostitution

Chandler Alexandra Everett, 31, of Morgantown, West Virginia, has been arrested on misdemeanor charges of prostitution, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia after she allegedly offered to perform sexual acts with a state trooper in a motel room on East Third Street in Loyalsock Township if he paid her $300 on Monday afternoon, it was alleged in an affidavit. Upon being given the money, Everett was arrested in the motel room, police said, adding a small amount of the controlled substance and the paraphernalia were then discovered and seized. Following her arraignment before Whiteman, Everett was jailed in lieu of $7,500 bail.
