Assault, theft among charges filed in Lycoming County district courts

Motorist jailed after allegedly headbutting officer

Motorist Joshua Isiah Green, taken into custody Saturday night on the suspicion of being impaired, was locked up in the Lycoming County Prison on high bail after he headbutted a Lycoming Regional police officer, it was alleged in an affidavit.

Driving a 2009 Nissan Altima, Green, 24, of Painted Post, New York, was pulled over after he ran a stop sign at Lacomic Street and Dewey Avenue about 9:10 p.m., police said. Right from the get go, Green refused to comply with the officer’s orders, police said. After getting out of the car, Green wanted to get back in the vehicle, but the officer told him he was prohibited from doing so, police added.

He was warned to calm down or he would be handcuffed, it was stated in the court document. Green became more “irate,” and resisted the officer’s efforts to retrain him, it was alleged.

After being placed in the back of the cruiser, he refused to surrender his cellphone, police said. When a second officer attempted to get the phone, Green continued to spit on him, police said. Green then headbutted the officer in the head, giving the officer “a throbbing headache,” it was alleged in the affidavit. Upon being taken to police headquarters and placed in a holding cell, Green attempted to spit on officers and again headbutted the same officer he assaulted the first time, it was alleged. The officer was treated at UPMC Williamsport.

He was taken before District Judge William Solomon and arraigned on felony charges of aggravated assault and assault on a law enforcement officer as well as several misdemeanors, including simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, disorderly conduct and three summary offenses. He was jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail.
