State police have released the identity of an elderly female killed in an apparent hit and run incident Saturday morning.
While walking along the right southbound lane in the 4700 block of Route 220, Woodward Township, Elsie Koch, 80, was struck by an unknown vehicle, according to a state police press release.
The incident occurred just before 5:15 a.m., according to scanner reports.
Based on evidence at the scene, the driver attempted an evasive maneuver toward the north shoulder of the road, but struck Koch, sending her into the left-hand lane, while the vehicle then continued southbound.
"The patient was transported to the Trauma Center at UPMC Williamsport where she was pronounced dead at 9:30 a.m., an earlier statement issued by Charles Kiessling Jr. said.
