Limestone man jailed after allegedly punching state trooper in shoulder

Limestone Township resident Karter John Peacock was handcuffed inside a treatment room in the UPMC Williamsport emergency room about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday with three state troopers, according to an affidavit that stated the 22-year-old man was there for a “mental health evaluation.”

When one of the troopers started to remove the handcuffs, Peacock suddenly “turned around and punched” the trooper in the shoulder, it was alleged in the court document. A second trooper immediately deployed his taser gun, causing Peacock to fall back, police said. The assaulted trooper said he heard “a pop” in his shoulder.

Upon being discharged from the hospital, Peacock, of 1585 Wells Road, was arrested and arraigned before District Judge Gary Whiteman on charges of aggravated or simple assault, resisting arrest and harassment. He was placed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail. The court document did not say if the state troopers brought Peacock to the hospital nor was there any explanation as to why he was handcuffed.

Starting at $2.99/week.
