Two facing charges in Lycoming County in unrelated incidents
City man hit with public drunkenness, harrassment
Upon arriving at 673 Second Avenue to assist city fire officials, police discovered intoxicated and aggressive resident David Larue Burkhart, 37, allegedly defying orders to extinguish a small fire in his backyard, according to an affidavit.
“Kill yourself,” Burkhart allegedly loudly repeatedly shouted, at one point, throwing his I.D. at police.
He was warned to keep his voice down otherwise he would be arrested and police left the scene, however, Burkhart allegedly soon arrived at police headquarters, took a seat on the front steps and began consuming an alcoholic beverage., leaving once police disposed of the drink, according to court filings.
Just an hour later, police were recalled to Burkhart’s residence after receiving reports that he was on his front porch yelling loudly and breaking things.
Arriving back at the home, police observed a front window and front door window to be broken, court documents said.
Burkhart was arraigned on charges of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness by District Judge William Solomon and remanded to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $3,000 bail.
Montoursville woman charged with simple assault
Andrea Lynn Sweeley, 46, of 1108 Tule St., Montoursville, has been charged with simple assault and harassment after a verbal altercation turned physical, an alleged victim reported to police.
The incident began when the alleged victim arrived at a residence owned by himself and Sweeley.
The two had recently begun living separately, but made an agreement as to when both were allowed to be on the property, he told police.
Finding some of his items outside, the alleged victim made his way inside, at which point, he and Sweeley began to argue about his presence, according to court documents.
During the argument, Sweeley allegedly began to strike the alleged victim, causing him to cut and bleed, police said in court filings.
Sweeley was arraigned on the charges by District Judge Kirsten Gardner, and released on $35,000 bail.
