Variety of charges lodged in Lycoming County district courts

Limestone man jailed after allegedly punching state trooper in shoulder

Limestone Township resident Karter John Peacock was handcuffed inside a treatment room in the UPMC Williamsport emergency room about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday with three state troopers, according to an affidavit that stated the 22-year-old man was there for a “mental health evaluation.”

When one of the troopers started to remove the handcuffs, Peacock suddenly “turned around and punched” the trooper in the shoulder, it was alleged in the court document. A second trooper immediately deployed his taser gun, causing Peacock to fall back, police said. The assaulted trooper said he heard “a pop” in his shoulder.

Upon being discharged from the hospital, Peacock, of 1585 Wells Road, was arrested and arraigned before District Judge Gary Whiteman on charges of aggravated or simple assault, resisting arrest and harassment. He was placed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail. The court document did not say if the state troopers brought Peacock to the hospital nor was there any explanation as to why he was handcuffed.

Mother jailed on felony child endangerment charge

A continued pattern of allegedly leaving her 3-year-old son unsupervised has landed LInsey Mae Woodling in the county prison on a felony charge of endangering the welfare of a child, according to court records filed by Lycoming Regional police.

The incidents took place between mid-August and March 25, police said. On at least one occasion, the child was sitting alone on a porch outside a business along the very heavily-traveled Lycoming Creek Road, police alleged. In the same complaint, police said that when Woodling’s 8-year-old daughter was missing one day in late November, it turned out the girl had been missing hours before law enforcement were notified. At Woodring’s arraignment Wednesday morning before District Judge William Solomon, police told the judge that just before she was arrested, her son had once again allegedly been left unattended near a Lycoming Creek Road business for at least 20 minutes.

Following her arraignment, Woodring, of 3731 Lycoming Creek Road, was jailed in lieu of $15,000. The county’s Children and Youth Services department is involved in the case, according to police.

Game commission charges third man in running down whitetail deer with vehicle

A third person, Austin B. Grossnickle Jr., 20, of 3635 Pine St., Cogan Station, has been charged for his alleged involvement in the killing of a whitetail deer that was “maliciously” run over by a vehicle at West Third and Arch streets in the city during the early morning hours of March 8, 2025, according to an affidavit filed by the state Game Commission. The impact broke the deer’s two legs and neck, the court document stated. Charged with unlawful killing or taking of big game and unlawful use of lights while hunting, both misdemeanors, Grossnickle, who was a passenger in the vehicle, recently waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Christian Frey and is free on $10,000 bail.

The driver of the vehicle, Mark Edward Kimble Jr., 19, of 320 School House Road, and another passenger, Nyreece Kyrell Speck, 26, of 218 Smith Court Circle, Linden, have already been charged and have both waived their preliminary hearings.
