Family of 9 displaced by fire in Williamsport’s East End

A two-alarm fire, believed to be electrical in nature, broke out in this home at 354 Adams St. in the city’s East End about 4:45 p.m. Thursday, according to investigators. Called to the home to investigate smoke coming from an electrical outlet, firefighters were faced with a heavy volume of smoke coming from the back of the home when they arrived on the scene, a fire officer said. The fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes. There were no injuries in the fire that displaced a family of nine along with a cat and a dog. The family was staying with relatives. The fire remains under investigation.
