The identity of a man pulled from a pond along Musser Lane in Muncy Creek Township Thursday night has been released.

James L. Frey, 77, of Musser Lane, Muncy Creek Township, was discovered face down in a pond just before 5 p.m. Thursday evening, according to a release by Lycoming County Coroner Charles Kiessling Jr.

“It appears that he was running a weed eater around the pond when he collapsed into the water,” the release said.

Frey was pulled from the pond by county water rescue personnel, after which Susquehanna Regional EMS requested the Coroner’s Office response to the scene.

“The investigation into the cause of Frey’s death is ongoing by the Coroner’s Office and PA State Police,” the release said.

Emergency crews from Muncy, Hughesville, Picture Rocks, South Williamsport and Clinton Township Fire and Water Rescue personnel also responded to the scene.
