New charges lodged against Lycoming County inmate after allegedly possessing shank

Lycoming County Prison inmate Jonathan Pedraza, 35, faces new misdemeanor charges of possession of a weapon and possession of an instrument of crime after a shank, a homemade knife, he allegedly had in his possession fell to the floor while he and a second inmate were engaged in physical confrontation inside the jail at 277 W. Third St. on Oct. 12, according to an affidavit filed by county Detective Stephen Sorage. Jailed since mid-August on another criminal matter, Pedraza was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge Aaron Biichle and recommitted in lieu of an additional $10,000 bail.
