Williamsport firefighters responded to Interstate 180 West at the Maynard Street interchange when a tractor-trailer truck caught fire about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. The fire was believed to have started around the brakes and spread to the trailer, officials said. When firefighters arrived on the scene, flames and smoke were pouring from the back of the trailer, which was carrying pallets of salt, officials said. It only took about 10 minutes for the firefighters to knock down the fire, still, the westbound lanes became congested with several motorists trying to exit the highway.
