Two men displaced by Picture Rocks fire

PICTURE ROCKS — A smoke alarm is credited with alerting two men to an accidental fire that broke out in their home of 190 Laurel Run Road about 6:10 a.m. Sunday, according to Picture Rocks Fire Chief Alan Little.

The fire was in a small utility room and was ruled electrical in nature, Little said. As the two tenants were exiting the two story-home, one of them used a portable fire extinguisher, which helped keep the fire contained until volunteer firefighters arrived on the scene and quickly put out the fire, he said.

Although the fire was confined to the one room, there was heavy smoke damage throughout the rental property, Little said. Both the renters and the homeowner have fire insurance, he said. Their identities were not released. The two tenants were now staying with relatives.

Besides Picture Rocks, firefighters from Hughesville, Muncy Area and Muncy Valley responded to the scene.
