Accidental fire quickly put out
PHILIP A. HOLMES/Sun-Gazette Williamsport and area firefighters were dispatched to 3272 Lycoming Creek Road in Old Lycoming Township, where a fire broke out just before 1 p.m. Sunday. About an hour after the homeowner had burned weeds around the property, his basement began filling up with smoke, according to investigators. It is believed some dry grass caught fire, spreading to a partition at the back of the home. The fire was extguished within minutes and no one was displaced by the emergency. Volunteers from the township, Hepburn Township, Trout Run, Montoursville and Jersey Shore also responded.
