Williamsport police block off Cemetery Street to investigate reported multiple shots fired at about 4 p.m. near West Fourth, Rose and Cemetery Streets in Williamsport. DAVE KENNEDY/Sun-Gazette
City police are investigating a shots fired incident that occurred around 3:45 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of Allen Street, the department said in a post to crimewatch.com.
After responding to the 1400 block of West Fourth Street, authorities discovered multiple shell casings in the area of Seth and Cemetery street. A residence in the 400 block of Allen Street was struck by gunfire, the post said.
Three to five black males were seen fleeing the area immediately following the incident, according to witness statements, police said in the post.
Two adult males have been detained in connection with the investigation, which remains ongoing.
At present, police believe this to be a targeted incident, with no known threat to the greater public.
Residents in the surrounding area with home security systems are asked to review any recorded footage around the time of the shooting for potential evidence, the post said.
