Connecticut man accused of vehicle theft
State police have charged David Kwakuyi, 52, of Manchester, Conn. with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property after he allegedly stole a vehicle he had agreed to pay $6,000 for, according to court documents.
Rather than follow the instructions of the alleged victim and seller, who was not present, Kwakuyi allegedly drove off with the 2012 International Prostar+ without signing the notarized bill of sale, making payment or transferring the title, an affidavit said.
The alleged victim contacted Kwakuyi several times requesting the vehicle be returned or payment made. Kwakuyi did not do either, initially stalling and replying disingenuously before allegedly ceasing all contact.
Kwakuyi was arraigned on the charges by District Judge William Solomon, and remanded to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $30,000 bail.
