Montoursville man accused of theft from convenience store
A Montoursville man has been charged with retail theft after he allegedly stole five wine-flavored cigars from Nittany Minit Mart, 1450 E. Third St. on June 4, 2026, state police said in an affidavit.
Arriving at the gas pumps of the convenience store, state police observed Nathanael J. Zeigler, 26, of 424 Jordan Ave., Montoursville, dismounting a pedal cycle and entered the store when an assistant store manager informed them that Zeigler was recently trespassed from the store and was not allowed on the property.
Upon exiting the store, Ziegler displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI. During a search of his person, police discovered the cigars, valued at $6.88, in his right pants pocket, court documents said.
During his time in the store, no employees were present to ring him out for the items. Further, Zeigler stated that he does not carry identification on him, which would be required to complete any sale of tobacco items from the store, police noted.
Zeigler denied stealing the cigars, instead relating that he purchased them from the Nittany Minit Mart in Newberry.
Police visited the location and spoke to the attendant, who recalled Zeigler visiting the store, but denied he had made any purchases, an affidavit said.
Zeigler was arraigned on the charges by District Judge William Solomon, and jailed at the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $2,500 bail.
