Muncy man charged previously charged with simple assault, faces child endangerment

Already facing charges of simple assault, harassment and possession of drug paraphernalia after he allegedly punched a female acquaintance in the face four times on May 3, Logan Jacob Bennett, 25, of 28 W. Water St., Muncy, now faces an additional charge of endangering the welfare of children stemming from the same incident, according to an affidavit by Muncy Borough Police.

During the investigation into the alleged assault, it was learned that the altercation resulted from the alleged victim confronting Bennett over shooting their 3-year-old daughter in the face with a gel blaster-style gun, new court documents reveal.

Following a preliminary hearing for Bennett’s then-current charges, police conducted a follow-up investigation into the alleged shooting of the child, collecting a follow-up statement from her mother, as well as the gel-blaster device.

The mother stated that after observing a red mark under the child’s eye, she asked what had happened.

“Logan shot me,” she allegedly responded to her mother.

The minor’s grandfather as well as an independent witness both allegedly told police that they had witnessed Bennett shoot the alleged victim in the face with the gel-blaster on “multiple occasions,” an affidavit said.

Each time Bennett would shoot her, the alleged victim would cry, with visible red marks left on her face, the witnesses allegedly told police.

Bennett was arraigned by District Judge Kirsten Gardner, and remanded to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Starting at $2.99/week.
