Williamsport man charged with illegal possession of a firearm, terroristic threats
A Williamsport man who contacted police to report individuals on his property ended up facing charges himself when it was learned that he allegedly threatened them with a firearm, which he was not legally allowed to possess, state police said in an affidavit.
Adam Randall Delaney, 46, of 244 E. Church St., Apt. 3, contacted police to report that the nephews of his landlord have repeatedly been in the property he leases, including for hunting purposes.
Delaney told police that that date, May 31, 2026, he had driven his fourwheeler to the top of the hill and confronted the two, who were allegedly firing guns, though he related he had not threatened them.
The two alleged victims, however, stated that during the confrontation, Delaney had lifted his shirt to reveal a small handgun, adding that he had “more firepower,” and enough to make one of the alleged victims sorry, court documents said.
Delaney denied being in possession of any firearms due to a felony conviction at 19-years-old.
During the execution of a search warrant, police discovered a Savage .22 long rifle and a Ruger American .243 long rifle and ammunition for each within the residence, an affidavit said.
Delaney’s girlfriend further advised that Delaney regularly carried a .38 special pistol while walking on the property to protect himself from coyotes. Neither that firearm nor ammunition for the gun were located at the residence, police said in court documents.
Delaney was arraigned on charges of illegal possession of a firearm, terroristic threats, harassment and simple assault by District Judge Gary Whiteman and remanded to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
