Hospital employee kicked twice in the head
As the patient care technician was trying to gain control of medical patient Luis Montoya Andrade in the emergency room of UPMC Williamsport on July 18, Andrade suddenly kicked the hospital employee twice in the head with his right leg, it was alleged in a police affidavit. The victim felt "throbbing pain" and became dizzy, the court document, filed by hospital police, stated. Andrade, 24, of 1620 Sherman St., had been brought to the hospital at 700 High St. as an "involuntary mental health commitment," police said. Other medical staff intervened and gained control of Andrade before a hospital police officer arrived on the scene. He was arraigned Friday before District Judge Aaron Biichle on charges of aggravated and simple assault as well as harassment and locked up in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Three faces charges in city gun-pointing case
Following a preliminary hearing last week before Biichle, Dakota Ryan Bower, 23, of 627 Fourth Ave., was held for court on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment for sending a threatening text message to another male and then driving by the male's home on Louisa Street and "flashing" a handgun at him on May 18, city police alleged in an affidavit. In the text, Bower told the victim he would shoot him and that he was "coming for blood," the court document stated. Bower was upset because the male had shot Bower's mother in the face with a gel blaster or spat toy gun," police said.
At the same hearing, Montez Joseph Richards, 23, and Melissa Rose Baney, 43, both of whom carry the same address as Bower, were each held for court on a conspiracy charge to commit simple assault because the two were with Bower in the car when he allegedly "flashed" the gun at the victim, police said. All three are free on bail.
Daughter allegedly stole debit card from her parents
After dropping off her elderly mother at Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital for an appointment on the morning of April 21, Brandi Lynn Mayes was to wait in her mother's car in the hospital parking lot, according to Lycoming Regional police. However, the 52-year-old daughter took off in the 2015 Nissan Rogue and kept the vehicle for two days before returning to her parents' home, investigators alleged. While she had the car, Mayes used her parents' stolen debit card to make $31 worth of purchases at the Weis Market in Jersey Shore without their permission, police alleged. Mayes, of 942 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, has since been arraigned before District Judge Denise Dieter on a felony charge of identity theft as well as financial exploitation of an older adult or a care-dependent person, access device fraud and unauthorized use of a vehicle. She has waived her preliminary hearing and is free on $25,000 bail.
