Charges against three defendants dismissed, but others held for court
In separate cases, local law enforcement has dropped charges against three individuals after there was insufficient evidence to pursue the matter in court. Those cases included:
Andrea Lynn Sweeley, 46, of 1108 Tule St., Montoursville; state police withdrew charges of simple assault and harassment that stemmed from a domestic disturbance on Tule Street on April 5.
Mark A. Walker, 54, of 1154 Chester St., apartment 104; state police withdrew charges of simple assault and harassment that stemmed from disturbance in the 1500 block of Northway Road in Loyalsock Township on March 31.
Perry Eugene Miller, 45, of 152 Boak Ave., lot 47, Hughesville; state police withdrew charges of simple assault and harassment that were originally filed following a domestic disturbance at his residence on March 20.
In other court matters, District Judge Kirsten Gardner ruled at the conclusion of a preliminary hearing that there was sufficient evidence to hold Alexis Jo Sweet on the original set of charges plus three additional felonies, including arson, aggravated arson and criminal trespassing. At the recent hearing, Sweet, 35, of 2001 Reach Road, was held for court on charges of terroristic threats, risking a catastrophe, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and harassment as well as the three additional felony charges, which all stem from her allegedly setting a small fire in the kitchen during a domestic disturbance on Bower Lane in Penn Township on June 25, according to state police. Initially jailed, Sweet has since been released on $15,000 bail.
In a drug case brought before District Judge Aaron Biichle, Isaiah James Keyes, 23, of 313 E. Church St., was held for court on charges of possession with intent to deliver 90 grams of cocaine, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. However, the judge threw out a felony charge of endangering the welfare of a child after determining there was insufficient evidence to support that offense. The charges, filed by the county's Narcotics Enforcement Unit, stem from drugs seized at Keyes home on April 14, according to an affidavit. Keyes remains incarcerated in lieu of $95,000 bail.
In a domestic disturbance case before District Judge Gary Whiteman, Kadar Gates-Davis, 34, of 1735 Four Mile Drive, apartment 10, was held for court on a felony charge of endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment. However, a misdemeanor charge of simple assault was dismissed due to insufficient evidence. The charges stem from an incident at Gates-Davis' apartment on April 3. Initially jailed, he has since been released on $25,000 bail.
