Teen killed in motorcycle crash along Route 287 Saturday evening

A 17-year-old male was killed in a single vehicle motorcycle crash near the intersection of state routes 287 and 284 in Pine Township Saturday evening, state police confirmed in a press release early Sunday morning.

The crash occurred shortly after 5 p.m. when the operator, traveling south along Route 287, lost control of his motorcycle and exited the west side of the roadway, initially impacting a ditch and rugged embankment. Shortly after, the operator was separated from the motorcycle, the release said.

The motorcycle and its operator both came to uncontrolled rests in the same area.

The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet at the time, suffered traumatic, fatal injuries, according to the release.

The operator’s name has not been released at this time.

Responding agencies included Morris Fire Department, Morris Ambulance Company, Morris Fire Police, Susquehanna Regional EMS, the Lycoming County Coroner’s Office and PennDOT.
