Wellsboro woman charged with aggravated assault after incident at South Williamsport restaurant
When South Williamsport Borough police arrived at the Southern Grill, 1024 W. Southern Avenue, at 12:30 a.m. on June 23, 2026, for a report of an intoxicated female attempting leave the premises in her 2021 Kia Forte, they allegedly came upon Alexis Lynn Adams, 25, of Wellsboro, sitting her the ground, her slumped into her chest and an empty glass and cell phone by her side, borough police allege in an affidavit.
A bartender told police that Adams and a male had been drinking at the establishment and were acting disorderly and harassing patrons, and were asked to leave due to this behavior.
“Oh, expletive, you’re a cop,” Adams allegedly said when approached by police, allegedly admitting to having been drinking at the establishment and describing herself as being “super drunk.”
Adams was unsteady on her feet and appeared highly intoxicated, displaying slurred speech, glassy eyes and impaired motor skills, court documents said.
A bottle of Lorazepam prescribed to Adams was visible within her vehicle, and she allegedly related that she may have taken “several” tablets earlier in the evening.
She identified herself as a “drug and alcohol counselor,” a previous correctional officer with the Tioga County Prison and having worked with state police. A Tioga County Prison Corrections Officer ID card was found within Adams’ wallet, police said in court filings.
Though Adams was given the option of contacting a friend, relative or rideshare service for a ride home or staying in a local hotel, she allegedly refused these options, at one point allegedly telling police to “just take me to jail,” however, when officers attempted to take Adams into custody, she allegedly resisted, was restrained in handcuffs and escorted to a patrol car.
During transport to police headquarters officers allegedly observed Adams attempting to free herself from the restraints, and upon arrival, Adams attempted to flee, pushing one officer and striking him with the removed handcuff,” court documents said.
As police tried to re-secure Adams, she allegedly attempted to strike another officer in the groin with her right knee, striking him in the upper right thigh instead.
Adams was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, attempting to flee and public drunkenness by District Judge, and remanded to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail.
