Three women face charges in separate cases
Amber Mordan, a 26-year-old inmate at the state Correctional Institution at Muncy, faces a new set of charges after assaulting two corrections officers at the the prison on Route 405 in Clinton Township on Oct. 13, state police alleged in an affidavit.
After throwing a pair of broken glasses at one officer, Mordan punched the officer in the stomach while in the recreation area of the Behavior Management Unit, police alleged. Later the same day, Mordan, serving a five-year prison term after being convicted in Columbia County of aggravated assault by prisoner, kicked a second officer in the stomach as he and other officers were assisting her to her feet after Mordan had dropped to the floor, the affidavit stated.
Following her arraignment last week before District Judge Kirsten Gardner on two felony counts of aggravated assault, she was recommitted in lieu of $35,000 bail.
In another case, Geiyonna Jeniah Martin, 20, of 1062 Vine Ave., has been jailed on burglary-related charges for breaking into a neighbor's home and stealing a $1,300 pair of shoes on June 18, city police alleged in a court document. Police have accused Martin of stealing the shoes from a bedroom at 1068 Vine Ave. after breaking a window at the property.
Arraigned before District Judge Aaron Biichle on felony charges of burglary and trespassing plus misdemeanor theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief. She remains jailed in lieu of $25,000. She has since waived her preliminary hearing.
In a third case, while city police officers were conducting a routine traffic stop in the 1300 block of West Fourth Street about 1:45 p.m. on June 6, another motorist passing the scene began screaming and yelling at the officers in what investigators claim was a deliberate act to inject herself into a matter that did not concern her, according to court records.
After she was told to move her vehicle, Tyesha Levera Green, 38, of 505 Center St., pulled into a parking lot, got out of her SUV and continued to be disruptive, it was alleged. When told she was under arrest for disorderly conduct, Green refused to give her identification and struggled with officers as they handcuffed her, police said.
Charged with obstructing the administration of law, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, Green was held for court on all charges following a preliminary hearing before District Judge Christian Frey and released on $2,500 bail.
Charges lodged against South Williamsport resident
After being warned earlier by South Williamsport police to stop throwing illegal explosive devices into the street on Saturday night, Harry James Thomas Jr. ignored the order and continued throwing the devices outside his home at 224 W. Second Ave., it was alleged in an affidavit.
Thomas, 40, was taken into custody at his home and arraigned before District Judge Gary Whiteman on misdemeanor charges of propulsion of missiles into roadways and disorderly conduct. Initially jailed, he has since been released on $5,000 bail.
