Assault-related charges land Jersey Shore area man in prison
Bail was denied for a Watson Township man who was arrested after he allegedly struck a woman in the head with a cane during a domestic disturbance in his home at 224 Herold Road about 10 a.m. Monday, according to state police. Spencer Aaron Welch, 29, struggles with mental-health issues, attacked the woman while she was asleep on a couch, police alleged. She suffered "a serious laceration" and was taken by ambulance to Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital, police said. Welch was arraigned before District Judge Denise Dieter on charges of felony aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment and committed to the Lycoming County Prison on no bail.
Charges filed against Philly man who allegedly used stolen credit card
Already on probation, Richard Lee Ansley, 34, of Philadelphia, faces four counts of access device fraud for racking up $60 worth of charges on a woman's stolen credit at various Williamsport area businesses on June 11, city police said. Ansley waived his preliminary hearing last week before District Judge Aaron Biichle and was released on $5,000 bail. No information was provided concerning from where the credit card was taken,
Employee-theft case results in criminal charges
While employed at the 7-Eleven convenience store at 1601 Dewey Ave. in Old Lycoming Township in late April, 40-year-old Shariem Floyd Houston stole an estimated $2,600 from the business, Lycoming Regional police alleged in court documents filed at the office of District Judge William Solomon. Following his recent arraignment on felony theft and receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor, Houston, of 1720 Memorial Ave., was initially jailed, but has since been released on $35,000 bail. He is no longer employed at the store, police said.
State police charge city woman with prostitution
Faith Niesha Woods, 23, of 13 ½ W. Fourth St., has been charged with prostitution after she propositioned two undercover state troopers, offering them $400 each in exchange for sexual favors at West Fourth and William streets in the city on June 9, it was alleged in a criminal complaint filed at Biichle's office.
At the time of her apprehension, she had a small amount of marijuana in her possession. Charged with possession of a controlled substance, Woods has since waived her preliminary hearing and is free on $5,000 bail.
