The male driver of a Toyota Rav4 escaped injury, but was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI as a result of a crash in which his SUV slammed into a street lamp in front of the Lycoming County Courthouse, 48 W. Third St., about 7:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Williamsport police.

A female juvenile riding in the vehicle was taken by ambulance to UPMC Williamsport to get treated for injuries she suffered in the crash.

Upon the Toyota’s impact with the street light, the light crashed to the ground. Traffic was detoured around the incident for about an hour.

A PPL employee responded and shut off service to a power line that was downed by the crash.

City firefighters and UPMC paramedics also responded to the crash.
