Routine traffic stop lands driver in jail on felony firearm charges
After motorist Dayshawn Townes was stopped by state troopers for a traffic violation at West Third and Walnut streets in the city about 2:15 a.m. Sunday, the 20-year-old driver gave the troopers consent to search his car, according to an affidavit.
In the truck, police seized a rimfire rifle and a handgun, both of which turned out to be stolen, the court document stated. The troopers also took possession of some drug paraphernalia that was found in the trunk along with the firearms.
Townes, of 759 W. Fourth St., apartment 1, was arraigned before District Judge Gary Whiteman on two felony counts each of receiving stolen property and carrying a firearm without a license as well as one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in of $25,000 bail.
Domestic disturbance results in man facing assault-related charges
Assault-related charges have been lodged against Alex Kane Caudell after he threw a woman to the floor, injuring her ribs during a disturbance at the couple's Old Lycoming Township home at 2017 Sechler Circle on June 25, Lycoming Regional police alleged in a court document. When the victim told the 28-year-old Caudell that she felt he broke her ribs, he replied that he "did not give a (expletive)," it was stated in an affidavit.
Caudell was recently held for court on charges of aggravated and simple assault, strangulation and harassment following a preliminary hearing before District Judge William Solomon. He remains free on $25,000 bail.
Jersey Shore man allegedly assaulted two state troopers in city
Dylan Tyler Miller, 22, of 303 Oak St., Jersey Shore, has been locked up on charges after he kicked one trooper in the leg and struck another in the arm during a confrontation at Second and Park avenues in the city about 1:50 a.m. Saturday, it was alleged in court documents.
Following his arraignment before District Judge Kirsten Gardner on two counts each of aggravated assault and simple assault as well as one count each of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment, Miller was incarcerated in lieu of $35,000 bail.
