Loyalsock Township man arrested on felony child endangerment charge
Dylon Reighard, 27, of 1670 Log Run Road, has been arrested on a felony charge of endangering the welfare of a child after his 2-year-old son suffered an accidental fentanyl overdose at a home in Eldred Township on March 19, according to state police.
At the time of the incident, Reighard was using drugs and staying at the home of his former girlfriend, the victim's mother, on Yeagle Road, police said. While in the house, the child drank from a soda can after Reighard allegedly put sticky mucus from his nose in the can, police said. Reighard has admitted that earlier he snorted heroin through his nose and then put mucus in the can, it was alleged. The child was hospitalized after going unresponsive shortly after his mother saw him drinking from the can, police said. Even though she knew Reighard was "a heroin user," the former girlfriend told police that she allowed him to move in with her and their child on the condition that he remain sober and not use any drugs, it was stated in an affidavit.
In addition to the one felony, Reighard has also been charged with one count of recklessly endangering another person. He has since waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Gary Whiteman and is free on $15,000 bail.
Teen jailed following high-speed pursuit on Route 220
Driving a 2015 Volkswagen GTI at speeds in excess of 100 mph on Route 220 in Woodward Township about 8:30 p.m. Friday, Charles Beczynski sped past a state trooper and believed there was no way the trooper could catch up with him, it was alleged in an affidavit.
The trooper activated his cruiser's emergency lights and siren, but the 19-year-old motorist paid no attention to him, making unsafe maneuvers in both southbound lanes as he weaved through traffic, it was alleged in an affidavit. At one point, Beczynski, of 927 W. Third St., "was unable to slow his vehicle enough to make a turn, subsequently traveling over a cement-lane barrier designator and into oncoming traffic" before he brought the car to a stop, police.
Once the teen was in custody, the trooper asked him "What were you thinking? Why didn't you stop," it was stated in the affidavit. "You thought you could get away from me, didn't you," the trooper asked him. "Very stupid, yes," Beczynski replied. A passenger was riding with him during the pursuit, police said.
Following his arraignment before Whiteman on charges of felony fleeing law enforcement, recklessly endangering another person and several summary offenses, including speeding, Beczynski was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.
