Two men face charges following separate domestic disturbances
During an argument over custody of their children, Malik Roy Fields grabbed the children's mother by her throat, "causing her breathing to be impeded" at Fields' home at 2419 W. Fourth St. on Aug. 28, city police alleged. Following a recent preliminary hearing before District Judge Christian Frey, the 31-year-old Fields was held for court on one felony charge of strangulation. He remains locked up in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail. Following the attack, the mother told police that she became sick to her stomach and suffered throat pain.
In another case, just two days after threatening to kill a woman during a domestic disturbance in Piatt Township, Zachary Thomas Harlan assaulted the same victim in yet another incident, city police alleged. Harlan, 34, was released on $25,000 bail on Sept. 4 following his arraignment on state police charges of terroristic threats and harassment. On that day, while Harlan and the woman were traveling together in a car, Harlan threatened to kill them both by driving off a cliff, it was alleged.
Two days later, about 3 p.m. on Sept. 6, city police were dispatced to Harlan's home at 906 Penn St. As the officers were about a block away from the house, they were flagged down by the same woman involved in the first incident. She told them that Harlan grabbed her around the arms and "slammed her head" against the driver's window hours earlier while the two were together in a car, police alleged. The woman was behind the wheel, police were told.
Minutes before officers were called to Penn Street, Harlan punched the woman on the right side of the face, it was alleged in an affidavit. Following his arraignment on city police charges of simple assault and harassment, Harlan, who also carried an address in the 800 block of Funston Avenue, was initially jailed, but has since been released on $10,000 bail. He will have preliminary hearings for both sets of charges later this month.
City police arrest two men on felony trespassing charge in separate cases
Krystopher Jeffers, 30, of 2500 Federal Ave., has been charged with felony trespassing and three misdemeanor counts of corrupting the morals after the four illegally entered a home in the 700 block of Prospect Avenue about 1 a.m. on Aug. 9, city police alleged in the affidavit. Surveilliance video recorded one of the juveniles kicking in the front door, police said. Upon entering the property, the foursome tripped a burglar alarm and fled the scene, police added. Following his arraignment Sunday before District Judge Kirsten Gardner, Jeffers, who also goes by Damien Signor, was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail.
In another case, Chase Hepburn, 41, of 1254 Monroe Place, has also been charged with one felony count of trespassing for illegally entering a man's home in the 1200 block of High Street about 10:10 p.m. on Aug. 24, police alleged. The resident, who said Hepburn appeared "intoxicated," confronted the intruder, pushed him out of the doorway and locked the door, police said. Hepburn has since waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Christian Frey and is free on $5,000 bail.
Ex-employee faces felony shoplifting charge
While employed at Sheetz at 330 Westminster Drive in Loyalsock Township, Amanda Griffin, 43, of 608 Maple St., used store credit to allegedly steal $1,800 worth of gift cards from the business between late July and early August, according to state police. Arraigned recently before District Judge Gary Whiteman on one felony count of shoplifting, Griffin, who has since been terminated from her possession, was released on $5,000 bail.
Three charged with simple assault
Trey Cohick, 19, and Michael Bernardo, 28, both of 1648 Andrews Place, along with Blaze Cohick, 23, of Williamsport, have been charged with simple assault and harassment for assaulting another man in the 600 block of Second Avenue by punching him and kicking him multiple times on April 18, city police alleged in an affidavit. While Trey Cohick and Bernado have waived their preliminary hearings and are free on $5,000 bail each, Blaze Cohick has been sent a summons to appear before District Judge Aaron Biichle for a hearing scheduled in early November. The affidavit stated all three men charged are "children of his girlfriend."
Loyalsock Township man faces firearms charge
Alize Deshawn Johnson, 30, of 1259 Crestfield Drive, has been charged with carrying a firearm without a license in the 900 block of Market Street in the city on June 3, according to state police court documents filed at Biichle's office. He has waived his preliminary hearing and is free on $5,000 bail.
