Linden man arrested on sex charges involving minor
Lawrence Thomas Tompkins, 36, of 11 Turkey Path Road, Linden, has been arrested on charges of soliciting a male teenage minor to have sex with him, state police alleged in an affidavit.
Charged with two felony counts of unlawful contact with a minor and one misdemeanor count of corrupting the morals of a minor, Tompkins and the juvenile, who was 17 but who told Tompinks that he was 14, met online last week, police said. During their conversation, Tompkins "spoke about performing various sex acts together" with the minor and also sent the teen a photo of his private parts, police alleged. The two agreed to meet in the 1000 block of North Loyalsock Avenue on Friday, and when they did meet, the juvenile confronted Tompkins, who was later taken into custody and arraigned before District Judge Gary Whiteman.
Initially jailed, Tompkins has since been released on $25,000 bail.
Former store employee accused of stealing large sum of money from business
While employed at Your Choice at 447 Broad St. in Montoursville between last October and this past summer, 39-year-old Jennifer Lynn Aldenderfer stole an estimated $12,394 from the business, borough police alleged in an affidavit.
Aldenderfer, of 1818 Blanchard Ave., has been arraigned before District Judge William Solomon on one felony charge of theft and released on $25,000 bail. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday.
Mother charged with strangulation following domestic disturbance
Dana Michelle Wright, 38, of 731 Elmira St., has been arrested on charges of felony strangulation and endangering the welfare of a child after she "held her daughter down on a bed, put her hand around the girl's neck" and squeezed her throat during a disturbance at Wright's home on Saturday, city police alleged. The assault was witnessed by Wright's boyfriend, who had to pull Wright off the female minor, police said. Following her arraignment before Solomon, Wright was released on $35,000 bail
Woman charged with criminal mischief after allegedly throwing rock at parked truck
Jeri Jeanette Wagoner, 44, of 2900 Heshbon Road, has waived her preliminary hearing before District Judge Aaron Biichle for a city police misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief that stems from her allegedly throwing a rock at a man's pickup truck, breaking the windshield while the vehicle was parked at the rear of the victim's home at 619 First Ave. about 11 p.m. on June 26. Wagoner remains free on $5,000 bail.
Earlier this year, city police charged Wagoner with misdemeanor shoplifting following an incident at Wagmans, 201 William St., in late January.
City police charge Milton man with stealing items from a Park Place home
Dennis Dean Russell, 55, of Milton, has been charged with theft and receiving stolen property after allegedly stealing $800 worth of metal that was being stored under a tarp at a home at 830 Park Place on the morning of June 10, according to city police.
The theft was caught on a surveillance camera, which recorded the items being loaded into a pickup truck by two men, police said. The recorded image was so sharp that police could read the truck's license plate and clearly see the driver, it was stated in an affidavit. Days later, police spotted Russell driving the very same truck and conducted a traffic stop. "Russell was identified by the tattoos on his arms," an officer said in an affidavit.
Russell waived his preliminary hearing last week before Biichle and was released on $5,000 bail.
City woman arrested for third shoplifting offense
Carla Jean Wright, 47, of 815 W. Fourth St., has been charged with felony shoplifting and receiving stolen property after she is alleged to have stolen $104 worth of merchandise from the Weis Market at 1916 Lycoming Creek Road in Old Lycoming Township on Sept. 10, according to Lycoming Regional police.
Following her arraignment Monday before Solomon, Wright, who has been convicted twice of shoplifting, was recommitted to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail. She has been incarcerated on other criminal matter, according to court papers.
County prison inmate faces assault charge
County Prison inmate Kevin Geter, 33, of 1027 Packer St., will have a preliminary hearing next week before Whiteman for one misdemeanor count of simple assault that was filed by county Detective Stephen J. Sorage.
The charge stems from Geter punching inmate Hakim Kent in the face, knocking him to the floor in the prison's pre-release center on County Farm Road in Loyalsock Township on Aug. 24, Sorage alleged in an affidavit.
Geter was arrested in 2024 on drug charges and last November on felony shoplifting. Kent, 39, of 1314 W. Fourth St., who is serving a sentence for terroristic threats, suffered minor injuries in the attack, which was witnessed by staff members and recorded on surveillance video, the court document said. The affidavit did not say if investigators knew what prompted the assault.
Geter remains incarcerated at the prison and Kent remains at the pre-release center.
Second person charged in case involving theft from Community Theatre League
Sheldon McKissick Davis, 32, of 353 W. Third St., has been charged with theft, receiving stolen property, defiant trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia for his alleged involvement in stealing $365 worth of items from the Community Theatre League, 100 W. Third St., on April 30. He has waived his preliminary hearing and is free on $5,000 bail. However, co-defendant Abigail Russell, 24, of Williamsport, who was arrested on the same charges on Aug. 19, remains jailed in lieu of $2,500 bail. She too has since waived her preliminary hearing.
