By Matthew Courter 1 min read

One person was transported to a local hospital following a vehicle crash in the 300 block of West Southern Avenue just before 1:30 p.m. Friday, South Williamsport police said at the scene.

"A driver headed east, hit a parked car, left that parked car, backed up into another vehicle, and then proceeded down the road to strike another that pushed into another parked vehicle," the officer told the Sun-Gazette.

A medical episode is believed to be the cause of the accident, police said.

A stretch of Southern Avenue was blocked off for close to an hour as three vehicles were towed from the scene.

In addition to South Williamsport, DuBoistown and city units, along with Susquehanna Regional EMS responded to the scene.

Friday's collision marked the third in the borough for the week, following a Monday morning crash in the 1600 block of Riverside Drive that downed two utility poles and knocked out power to an estimated 110 homes and business for several hours, and a Tuesday evening collision between a Volkswagen Jetta collided with a parked Subaru Legacy in the 1300 block of West Southern Avenue.
