More charges lodged against man arrested in city homicide case
Lycoming County Prison inmate Zyriece Walker, awaiting trial for allegedly shooting to death 18-year-old Nasir Kramer at Memorial Avenue and Lloyd Street on the afternoon of June 29, was arrested this week on a whole new set of charges for his alleged involvement in an overnight burglary at the National Range and Armory at 531 Washington Blvd back on Nov. 3, 2023, according to court records filed at the office of District Judge Aaron Biichle.
Already locked up on no bail for the city homicide, Walker, 23, whose last known address was the home of his girlfriend in the 300 block of Jordan Avenue in Montoursville, appeared Tuesday before the judge to face six felonies, including burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, carrying a firearm without a license and two counts of conspiracy.
He is also charged with possession of instruments of crime – large rocks that were used to break a window at the armory – and criminal mischief. Damage to the smashed window as well as to a display case inside the business totaled $1,755, city police said. Seven firearms, with a total value of $4,300, were stolen in the break-in, police.
Charges were filed against Walker after DNA evidence collected at the scene matched a DNA sample investigators had collected from him, it was stated in an affidavit. Following his arraignment, Walker was recommitted to the jail in lieu of an additional $75,000 bail.
Two brothers arrested in separate incidents
Dominic Aaron Reynolds, who was shot on Aug. 15 allegedly by his brother, Levis Gage Johnson, in the home the two share at 1955 Lycoming Creek Road was arrested Saturday on a felony charge of theft for stealing a handgun owned by the 26-year-old Johnson sometime between April 9 and April 19, according to court documents filed by Lycoming Regional police.
The gun reportedly was taken from Johnson's bedroom and recovered on May 11 by state troopers who stopped a vehicle Reynolds was driving, it was stated in an affidavit. Reynolds, 28, was arraigned before District Judge Gary Whiteman and locked up in the county prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.
On Wednesday morning, Lycoming Regional police took into custody a third brother, Eddie Johnson Jr., 40, of 3635 Dewey Avenue Extension, Cogan Station and charged him with allegedly pulling a knife on a woman and assaulting her as she was attempting to get in her car in the 1900 block of Lycoming Creek Road about 10 p.m. Friday, it was stated in court papers. Although the woman was leaving Reynolds' home when Johnson confronted her and asked her about Reynolds' whereabouts, the woman told police she did not know Johnson. As the woman tried to get in her car, Eddie pinned her between the door and her vehicle, slamming the door on her legs and face several times, it was alleged. The victim managed to break free and run across the street to get away from him, police said. Following his arraignment before Solomon on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment, Eddie Johnson was jailed in lieu of $35,000 bail.
The victim, who was "left petrified" by the ordeal, was treated at an area hospital for her injuries, police said.
After the shooting last month, Levis Johnson was initially jailed, but he was released after waiving his preliminary hearing on assault-related charges on Sept. 9.
Fugitive screams at the top of his lungs as he struggles with officer
When a city police officer spotted fugitive Jaheed Kyleem Wright in the 700 block of West Fourth Street about 5:30 p.m. on May 18, he ordered the 43-year-old man to stop because he needed "to talk to him," according to an affidavit. However, Wright, of 416 Third Ave., paid no attention to the order and started running between houses, police said. When the officer caught up with him, there was an intense struggle between the two as Wright, screaming "at the top of his lungs," made several attempts to enter a home in the 300 block of Mifflin Place, it was stated in an affidavit. As additional officers began arriving, Wright continued to cause considerable commotion, drawing the attention of several neighbors, some of whom came outside. Wright was wanted on a bench warrant filed by the county sheriff's office, which took custody of him. Charged with resisting arrest, evading arrest or detention and disorderly conduct, Wright waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Christian Frey. Although he was released on $5,000 bail in this case, he remains jailed in the county prison on another criminal matter.
Woman assaulted allegedly by brother while driving
While his sister was driving on Route 44 near Waterville about 9:15 p.m. on Aug. 15, Adam Ray Worden, who was sitting next to her in the car, punched her in the face, causing her glasses to fall off, it was alleged in an Lycoming Regional police affidavit. The assault forced the woman to stop in the middle of the two-lane road so she could get her glasses, police said. "At one point, Worden grabbed the back of her hair and pulled on it, causing her pain as she drove the car" it was stated in the court document. "Worden became aggressive and punched the windshield," breaking it, police alleged. The sister managed to pull into a parking lot and call 9-1-1, police said. Worden, 47, of 195 Whyne Road, Jersey Shore, has been charged with recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and harassment. He has been sent a summons to appear before District Judge Denise Dieter.
