Jersey Shore man already facing sex crimes charged for failing to register with state police

Already facing 13 counts of sexual abuse of children after authorities allegedly discovered "in excess of 10 images, files that depicted" child pornography on six cell phones in his possession in August, Jeffrey Scott Spong, 50, of 86 Park Drive, Jersey Shore, now faces a charge of failing to register with state police, according to an affidavit.

The new charge stems from the fact that the number of one of his Spong, a "sexually violent predator," was allegedly not registered with authorities as is required under the designation.

Spong allegedly stated that he had had the phone for 10 days, and acknowledged knowing he should have registered the new number within three days, court documents said.

Spong was arraigned before District Judge Denise Dieter, and jailed in lieu of $150,000.

Jersey Shore man

allegedly threatens to kill police

Jacob Robert Tome, 36, of 1279 Dennison Drive, Jersey Shore, has been charged for allegedly threatening to kill Lycoming Regional Police officers who responded to a domestic incident at his home on Sept. 5, according to court documents.

"Get me to the hospital before I shoot you," an allegedly heavily intoxicated Tome said to officers as they attempted to render medical aid to an actively bleeding laceration on his left arm.

"Go grab the 12 gauge now. "Go get that 12 gauge and "expletive" fire," Tome allegedly instructed another individual, advising that he was going to shoot police and anyone else nearby.

Tome was arraigned on a charge of terroristic threats by District Judge Denise Dieter.

South Williamsport man hit with additional theft charges

After being charged with three felony counts of burglary, and one felony count each of theft and receiving stolen property for pilfering more $10,200-worth of tools and scrap metal from a garage in Linden, Sean David Beam, 44, of 117 W. Sixth Ave., South Williamsport, has been hit with additional six counts of theft by unlawful taking and one count of burglary, state police said in an affidavit.

The new charges were filed after a resident in the 100 block of Bouganville Road in Piatt Township reported that at some point between Jan. 16 and Jan. 21, several beer signs had been been removed from a pavilion on his property as well as an additional sign that was in a camper also on the property.

Speaking with a trooper investigating Beam's previous charges, it was learned that signs allegedly matching those reported as stolen were in Beam's residence, court documents said.

Photographs of the signs at Beam's home were then allegedly identified by the alleged victim, who also advised that multiple tools were also missing from a shed on his property.

Beam was arraigned on the additional charges by District Judge Denise Dieter, and remanded to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Jersey Shore woman charged with hindering apprehension

Lannette Kae Garms, 52, of 286 Hill St., Jersey Shore, faces a charge of hindering apprehension after she allegedly failed to notify police that the subject of a warrant was at their shared residence despite being made aware of the pending arrest multiple times, Lycoming Regional Police said in an affidavit.

Three days after first making contact with Garms, on June 23, authorities were called to her residence for a domestic incident, where the subject of the warrant was taken into custody.

Garms allegedly admitted to knowing the male had a warrant out for his arrest and that the two shared the residence together, providing a written statement in which she acknowledged concealing him from the police.

Garms allegedly further related that she had previously seen police through her security camera, attempting to serve the warrant, and had recently told the subject to leave because she was done harboring him, a request he refused, court documents said.

Garms was arraigned by District Judge Denise Dieter, and released in lieu of $15,000 bail.

Muncy woman charged with retail theft

A Muncy woman faces a felony charge of retail theft after she allegedly pilfered more than $1,300-worth of items from the Weis Markets located at 1272 E. Penn St. in Muncy Creek Township, according to a state police affidavit.

Identified by her Weis Club Card and store surveillance, Patricia J. Ranck, 59, of 700 Tanglewood Road, Muncy, is accused of removing a total of $1,350.16 from the store without paying for them over nine occasions between Aug. 15 and Sept. 5.

Cogan Station man accused of resisting arrest

After being pulled over by state police on Oct. 15, and made aware of an outstanding warrant against him by city police, 36-year-old Joshua James Snyder allegedly became irate, an affidavit said.

Snyder allegedly grabbed hold of a patrol vehicle brush guard and refused to release it, necessitating three officers to remove him.

Snyder then allegedly tensed up, crossed his arms in front of his chest, and began swinging his shoulders around and pulling away despite the deployment of police tasers, court documents said.

Despite eventually falling to the ground, Snyder allegedly continued to resist, including striking one officer with a closed fist, after which officers again used a taser and were able to get control of him.

Even after being taken into custody, Snyder allegedly continued to pull away, insisting that the warrant was not valid, police said in court filings.

Snyder was arraigned by District Judge Kirsten Gardner, and jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail.
