ALLENWOOD – Firefighters were dispatched to the Allenwood Prison grounds about 8:50 p.m. Monday when a fire reportedly broke out in one of the housing units.
The fire was at or near 1164 Main Access Road in Union County’s Gregg Township.
Firefighters from Warrior Run Area as well as Montgomery, Milton, White Deer Township and Washington Township were among the several fire companies sent to the scene.
Exhaust fans were need to clear smoke from building.
Warrior Run Area Fire Chief Doug Funk reported the fire extinguished about 9:15 p.m. All but a handful of fire apparatus were released from the scene. It was unknown if any injuries occuured.
More details about the incident were expected to be released Tuesday.
