Two drivers involved in separate police pursuits face charges
Motorist Craig A. Mutschler, 40, of 1151 Showers Road, Muncy, remains jailed in the Lycoming County Prison on high bail following a lengthy high-speed chase with Muncy police that began on Fritz Station Road in Brady Township and continued north on Route 15, where he passed another driver in a no-passing zone before turning on McNett Road about 8:40 p.m. on Aug. 25, it was alleged in an affidavit. The pursuit initially began because the officer noticed there was no license plate on the car. Mutschler then drove through a yard and into a business parking lot, where he drove in circles, stirring up a considerable amount of dust, obscuring the officer's vision, the court document said. Mutschler evaded capture, but officers later found his car abandoned in Montgomery and impounded it. Arrested on charges of felony fleeing police, flight to avoid apprehension, plus four summary violations, Mutschler has since waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Kirsten Gardner and is incarcerated in lieu of $95,000 bail.
In another case before the judge, motorist Darvay Michael Harris fled from a state trooper who was pursuing him at a high rate of speed on Route 405 in Muncy Creek Township and into Hughesville, where the 33-year-old man pulled into the Main Street Car Wash and fled on foot about 1 a.m. on May 23, it was alleged in an affidavit. It turned out the registration on the 2006 Hyundai Sonata was expired and that the alleged driver, Harris, of 59 N. Main St., Hughesville, had a suspended license due to a DUI offense, police said. Charged with fleeing police and 15 summary violations, Harris has since waived his preliminary hearing and is free on $5,000 bail.

As the woman left for work in her car, Stidfole grabbed a hold of its roof rack and struck the vehicle with a tool, police alleged. Arraigned before District Judge Aaron Biichle, Stidfole, who will have a preliminary hearing next week, remains locked up in lieu of $25,000 bail.
