Passenger lands in jail on felony firearm charges
Naseer Brian Dymeck, a 22-year-old passenger in a car that was stopped for a vehicle code violation near High and Green streets in the city about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, was arrested and jailed on felony firearm charges after state troopers seized a stolen handgun that was discovered under the passenger seat according to an affidavit. The driver, who was also the vehicle owner, consented to the troopers searching the car, police said, adding that there was "a strong odor of marijuana" coming from inside the vehicle. Scratches on the gun indicated that an unsuccessful attempt had been made to obliterate the serial number, the court document stated.
Dymeck, of 2003 Heshbon Road, apartment A, who also surrendered a bag of marijuana, was taken into custody on charges of possession of a firearm with an attempt to conceal the serial number, carrying a firearm without a license, receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Following his arraignment before District Judge Denise Dieter, was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
