Jersey Shore man allegedly threatened to shoot woman if she called the cops

During an early morning argument Tuesday with a woman in his Jersey Shore home at 406 ½ Broad St., Michael Kylee Jarman became agitated, retrieved a handgun and started breaking different items in the house, it was stated in a Lycoming Regional police affidavit. While holding the gun, the 44-year-old Jarman told the woman "If you call the cops, I will put a bullet in your head before they get it," it was alleged in the court document. He repeated the threat as he paced back and forth holding the loaded gun, police alleged.

The woman felt she could not leave due to "Jarman's threats" and the fact that he was holding a firearm, police said. Officers responded to the home about 4:20 a..m. The affidavit did not say who called them to the property. Jarman met the officers at the door and allowed them inside before he started pacing once again back and forth as his moods swung from agitation, sadness and calmness, police said.

Jarman told the officers he and the woman were arguing over "multiple different things, including toothpaste and rent," the affidavit. After Jarman consented to allowing the officers to search the premises, police seized drug paraphernalia and marijuana in his bedroom and discovered a loaded handgun in the bottom of a trash can in the kitchen, the court document stated. Convicted of felony drug charges in 2000, Jarman is not even allowed to have a firearm, police said. Jarman was arraigned hours later before District Judge Christian Frey on charges of convicted felon not to possess a firearm, terroristic threats, possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault, tampering with evidence, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was sent directly to the Lycoming County Prison after the judge denied him bail.

Homeless bicyclist arrested on numerous charges

It was well after dark Tuesday night when city police attempted to stop bicyclist Gage Anthony Farr for failing to have an illuminated light on the front of his bicycle, according to an affidavit. Officers pursued him on several downtown streets, but the 31-year-old homeless man refused to stop as he rode the wrong way on a number of the streets and failed to stop for red traffic lights, police said. He was finally taken into custody near Pine and Court streets about 9:40 p.m., police said. Farr had in his possession a small amount of methamphetamine and marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia, police said. During the pursuit, Farr, whose last known address was on Grove Street in Avis, tossed a backpack that officers recovered. In it they found more paraphernalia, police said. It was clear to officers that he was "under the influence of a controlled substance while operating a bicycle," it was stated in an affidavit. He admitted "to using fentanyl and methamphetamine," police said. He was taken by ambulance to UPMC Williamsport to be evaluated by medical staff.

Upon being discharged from the hospital about midnight, Farr was arraigned before Frey on charges of evading arrest, tampering with evidence, possession of controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI and several summary offenses. He was committed to the county prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Clinton Township man charged with felony offenses

John Wayne Alexander, 43, of 6411 Armstrong Road, Muncy, surrendered Wednesday afternoon to authorities to face felony charges of deceptive business practices and theft by deception that were filed by city police. In late July, a resident in the 2700 block of Grand Street paid him $2,600 to cut down a tree in his yard, police said. The resident gave him $2,600 for the job, but police allege that Alexander never did the work. "The tree still stands," and numerous attempts by the victim to contact Alexander have been unsuccessful, police said. Following his arraignment before District Judge Kirsten Gardner, Alexander was released on $15,000 bail.
